Longfellow Middle School had an Adaptive Scholastic Athletic Program (ASAP) takeover by The Ability Center in their physical education classes today! Students put on a “different pair of shoes” to play wheelchair sports and received disability awareness training to reflect on and consider what “ability” really means.
Shoutout to The Ability Center for taking the time to teach these important lessons and unique skills to our students and to students Anna and Ivy Cosgrove–starters of the first all-female team to win a National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) National Championship in the Prep Division–for their leadership in these lessons!
