School Board Meeting Preview - June 9, 2025

The Wauwatosa School Board will meet for its first regular meeting of the month on Monday, June 9, 2025. The meeting will be held at the Fisher Administration Building (12121 W. North Avenue) in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, beginning at 6:00 p.m. A link to the regular meeting live stream can be found below:

Immediately following the Call to Order, the Board President will make a statement regarding public comment. The Board will then allow public comment in accordance with Policy 0167.3 - Public Comment at Board Meetings. Please note that this will be the only opportunity for public comment during the meeting.

Next, the Board will review and vote on the Consent Agenda.

Following this, the Division of Finance + Operations will ask the Board to approve the Renewal of Food Service Management Contract with Sodexo Operations, LLC, for the 2025-2026 School Year and the June 2024-25 Budget Revisions.

Then, the Division of Academic Performance will ask the Board to approve the AP African American Studies Textbook followed by a presentation of Discovery Lab, a New Elementary School Special for Students in Grades 1-5.

Following this, the Division of Human Resources will ask the Board to approve the following administrative contracts:

  1. 2025-27 Administrative Contract for Elizabeth Fritsch as Principal of Wauwatosa Montessori School, effective July 1, 2025 for 229 days per year at an annual salary of $120,000

  2. 2025-27 Administrative Contract for Jeffrey Peterson as Principal of Lincoln Elementary School, effective July 1, 2025 for 229 days per year at an annual salary of $130,000

  3. 2025-27 Administrative Contract for Christopher Laurishke as Associate Principal of Wauwatosa East High School, effective July 1, 2025 for 221 days per year at an annual salary of $102,500

Next, the Policy Committee will bring forward the following policies as second readings and/or action to approve:

  1. Policy 5136 - Personal Communication Devices

  2. Policy 3310 - Employee Expression in Noninstructional Settings

They will also bring forward the following policies as first readings:

  1. Policy 5411 - Third Grade Promotion and Retention: At-Risk Students (Act 20 Policy Template)

  2. Policy 5421 - Grading

  3. Policy 5430 - Class Rank

  4. Policy 2266 - Nondiscrimination on the Basis of Sex in Education Programs or Activities

  5. Policy 2341 - Overnight Field Trips (Rescind local policy--now in po2340)

  6. Policy 2340 - District-Sponsored Trips (Updated merger of 2340 and 2341)

  7. Policy 2455 - Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Rescind local policy--duplicative of po2260.01)

  8. Policy 2260.02 - Services for Bilingual Students/English Learners (replaces outdated 2260.01)

  9. Policy 2260.01 - Section 504/ADA Prohibition Against Discrimination Based on Disability (replaces outdated local policy 2455)

  10. Policy 2461 - Suspension Expulsion of Special Education Students (Rescind local policy--duplicative of po5605)

  11. Policy 2461 - Recording of IEP Team Meetings (New to Tosa)

  12. Policy 5113.03 - Part-Time Open Enrollment (RESCIND - old local policy/out of date/wrong code)

  13. Policy 5113.01 - Part-Time Open Enrollment (updated old 5113.03)

  14. Policy 5136.01 - Electronic Equipment (RESCIND - unnecessary for handbook issue)

  15. Policy 5460.01 - Wisconsin High School Civics Test (RESCIND - redundant of po5460)

  16. Policy 5460.01 - Diploma Deferral (new policy required by law)

  17. Policy 5514.01 - Student Use of Motor Vehicles (RESCIND - replaced by po5515)

  18. Policy 5515 - Student Use of Motor Vehicles (updates & replaces 5514.01)

  19. Policy 5530.01 - Chemical Irritants (RESCIND - redundant of po5772)

  20. Policy 5860 - Student Representatives to the School Board (Rescind--duplicative of po0141.1)

  21. Policy 5895 - Student Employment (RESCIND - no longer legally required)

  22. Policy 7540.05 - Assistive Technology and Services (updated)

Next, the Board will take action to Approve the Recording of all Committee Meetings.
