Wauwatosa School District parents and guardians were invited to Step into the Discovery Lab during a presentation and hands-on experience on Tuesday.

Starting in Fall 2025, the Discovery Lab will become a universal special for all first through fifth-graders, offering engaging, hands-on learning in STEM skills, design thinking, and engineering. The Discovery Lab is part of the district's broader “STEM for All” vision—connecting engineering design, interdisciplinary learning, and real-world problem-solving, all while building confidence, fostering creativity, and preparing students for the future.

This event was designed for adults and caregivers to explore what students will experience in this new course, and attendees got a firsthand look at:

• What the Discovery Lab is and how it supports the district's “STEM for All” vision
• How the course is being developed and what the special will include
• Sample tools and materials students will use—from engineering units to robotics to circuitry
• Opportunities to collaborate and engage with other families and ask questions

The evening included a 45-minute presentation followed by time to allow participants to explore materials and resources. District administrators were also available to answer questions throughout the event.
