Elementary Model of Instruction Change Window Open Through 11/8
From now through 11:59 pm on Sunday, November 8, 2020, you may change your elementary student’s model of instruction in Infinite Campus.
If you do not wish to change your elementary student’s model of instruction, you do not need to take any action. If you do not indicate a change in Infinite Campus, your student will remain in their current model of instruction for Trimester 2.
Before you make any changes, please note the following:
For each child, you may choose from three models of instruction: Phase Into Learning, Tosa Connected or Wauwatosa Virtual Academy. Click here to view information about each model. Siblings are not required to be enrolled in the same model of instruction.
The School Board has determined that Phase Into Learning will be in the hybrid phase starting on December 1, 2020 and continuing through a date that has yet to be determined. It is important to understand that if you choose the Phase Into Learning model, you are committing to following the phase as decided by the School Board, including virtual, hybrid or 5-day in-person learning. The Board will continue to determine the phase based on guidance from the Medical/Public Health Advisory Panel.
At this time, the final criteria for safely bringing students back to five-day in-person learning has not been finalized. The Medical/Public Health Advisory Panel has been asked to provide the Board with an updated recommendation that includes:
- Criteria for bringing JK-2 students back to 5-day in-person learning.
- A consideration for bringing all elementary students (JK-5) back to 5-day in-person learning at the same time.
- A plan for safely bringing students in grades 6-12 back to 5-day in-person learning, including:
- A tiered approach for bringing students back by grade-level or grade-level groups.
- Criteria for bringing each grade-level or grade-level group back to 5-day in-person learning.
We understand that the criteria for bringing students back to 5-day in-person learning is important to your decision-making process. However, the Medical/Public Health Advisory Panel’s updated recommendation will not be delivered to the Board prior to Sunday, November 8, 2020.
Please note that you will not be able to change your student’s model of instruction for Trimester 2 after Sunday, November 8, 2020 - even if you disagree with the phase as determined by the School Board. Your elementary student(s) will be enrolled in their model of instruction for all of Trimester 2, which begins on December 1, 2020 and ends on March 8, 2021. The next opportunity to change your elementary student’s model of instruction will be in February, 2021 and will take effect at the beginning of Trimester 3.
You can find step-by-step instructions for changing your student’s model of instruction here. First, you will need to log into your Infinite Campus parent portal. If you cannot access Infinite Campus, or have not set up a parent portal account, click here. If you’ve followed these instructions and still need assistance, please email email@example.com. Please note that this address is a direct support line, enabled during time-sensitive windows, that is used ONLY for assistance in setting up your Infinite Campus account. And finally, you may only change your student’s model of instruction one time between now and Sunday, November 8 in Infinite Campus. Please ensure your family is aligned regarding any changes that are made to your student’s model of instruction. Once a change has been submitted, you will not be able to modify your submission.
