Students Participate in Ribbon Cutting for New LAUNCH Program Location

September 26, 2019

Wauwatosa School District students participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, September 26 for the new LAUNCH program space that will be housed on the second floor of the Concurrency building located in Brookfield’s Bishop Woods Business Park.

LAUNCH is a professional-academic program for juniors and seniors that is a partnership between Elmbrook and Wauwatosa School Districts. The program offers career-based learning opportunities as part of the District’s Academic and Career Planning (ACP) initiatives. Students can enroll in courses ranging from Advanced Manufacturing & Design, Hospitality Innovation, Media Solutions, Business Analytics, Biomedical Solutions, Medicine and Healthcare and more.

At the ribbon-cutting, LAUNCH students from both districts presented their projects and had the opportunity to meet with more than 90 business professionals from across the community.

Concurrency is a Brookfield-based technology company that has provided its second-floor space as a new home for the LAUNCH program, offering collaboration spaces, meeting rooms, and more.

In addition to the new space in Brookfield, the new Center for Design and Innovation at Wauwatosa West High School will be utilized for Advanced Manufacturing & Design courses and a renovated classroom space at Wauwatosa East High School will serve as a home base for courses in the Hospitality Innovation Strand, including Advanced Marketing, Mentorship, and International Cuisine.

More than 300 students, including 70 from Wauwatosa, are involved in the program this year.
