Wauwatosa West High School has been selected as the sole high school in the state of Wisconsin to receive rights to produce Disney’s Frozen: The Broadway Musical.
Nearly 300 schools across the nation applied to this special nationwide competition called The United States of Frozen - made possible by a partnership between Educational Theatre Association, Music Theatre International and Disney Theatrical Group - which was held over the summer. With the theme “Love is an Open Door,” the contest was designed to promote inclusion and outreach in high school theater programs.
The prize package awarded to the Tosa West Trojan Players includes:
Rights to produce three (3) performances of Frozen.
Schools may present additional performances with paid royalties.
Capacity limit of 500 audience members per performance. Royalties apply for audiences greater than 500.
Free digital script, score, and 21-piece orchestration.
“As we approach National Arts in Education Week, this announcement further highlights the exceptional work taking place in our high schools - specifically related to the performing arts,” stated Dr. Demond Means, Wauwatosa School District Superintendent. “Mr. Adam Steffan, Theatre Director at Wauwatosa West, has done a tremendous job developing a safe, inclusive space for students to express themselves and explore their talents through theater. Our community is grateful for his expertise and dedication to our students and the arts.”
Performances of Frozen: The Broadway Musical will take place in spring or fall 2023. For more information, visit the Wauwatosa West Theatre website.
