Wauwatosa School District’s All City String Festival to be Held at American Family Field
The Wauwatosa School District Orchestra Department will host its annual All City String Festival on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 2 p.m. at American Family Field, home of the Milwaukee Brewers. The event, previously held at venues such as Wisconsin Lutheran College and Brookfield East Field House, has relocated to the large Major League Baseball venue in Milwaukee due to its exponential growth in popularity and participation.
Wauwatosa has a long, rich tradition of orchestra education, and at this year’s annual All City String Festival, more than 1,100 Wauwatosa orchestra students in grades 4 - 12 will showcase their musical abilities in a variety of styles, all to the delight of those in attendance.
“Our community is overjoyed about the return of this tradition, which has grown in popularity to now require a much larger venue than in years past,” stated Dr. Demond Means, Wauwatosa School District Superintendent. “We are thrilled to host this year’s event in a space where all students can perform together for an audience of more than 4,000 attendees. This year, as a result of the expanded venue capacity, the number of participating musicians will approach a record for the largest string orchestra performance.”
Throughout the years, the All City String Festival has continued to bring all of Wauwatosa School District’s schools together, deepening the city’s sense of community. This unique performance event invites the listener to experience all levels of students’ musical journeys, from beginner to advanced. Families are able to experience music of all levels and see the growth that their child will have from beginner to advanced student.
