Updated: Masks Optional Indoors, Outdoors

The Wauwatosa School District will continue to review guidance from the Centers for Disease Control, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services and the Wauwatosa Health Department, and we will use that information to help guide decisions regarding our COVID-19 mitigation procedures. As the COVID-19 landscape continues to change, we are committed to reviewing and assessing the protocols in place throughout the district, and making changes if and when appropriate.

Beginning on Monday, June 14, 2021, masks and other face coverings will be recommended (not required) for all individuals who enter district buildings. Individuals who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 are strongly encouraged to wear a mask or other face covering.

District buildings will be open to the public and appointments will not be necessary for visitors to enter. Individuals who enter a district building do not need to complete the Building Check-In form. However, you must continue to complete a self-check daily prior to entering a district building. If you answer YES to any question on the daily self-check, remain at home to avoid spreading illness.

In addition to common expectations for hand washing after bathroom use and before eating, please continue to wash your hands - to the extent reasonable - with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Hand sanitizer is an acceptable substitute where time does not allow a visit to a handwashing station. Please continue to cover your coughs and/or sneezes with a tissue or use an elbow. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.

District buildings will continue to be cleaned and sanitized on a regular basis. The district nursing team will continue to conduct contact tracing and issue quarantine instructions for unvaccinated individuals who have been exposed to COVID-19 in a district building.

As a school community focused on ensuring a welcoming environment for all, please remember that the decision to wear a mask is an individual choice.  It is our expectation that members of our educational community will respect the decisions of others regarding mask-wearing.
