Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Wauwatosa School District! Volunteers are a key component in our mission to provide an outstanding education that equips and inspires our students to conquer their challenges now and in the future. The District currently has over 3,000 approved volunteers!
Before we add you to the list of those outstanding volunteers, we need you to fill out this application linked below. For the safety of our students and staff, the application process includes a background check. Once you’re approved, you will receive notification via email and you’re clear to serve with us in any of our schools in the District. Visitor Aware will send the approved volunteer an email 30 days prior to the background check expiring containing a link to approve their background check to be re-run.
Confidentiality and student safety are paramount for all staff and volunteers, who must be aware of and agree to the requirements outlined below. To ensure the best experience for our students, staff, and volunteers, all volunteers should be aware of some basic guidelines, which include the following expectations:
Maintain strict confidentiality about students and staff
Refrain from discussing school practices, individual students, personnel matters, or personal opinions regarding children, adults, and situations observed while working or volunteering unless there is a legitimate educational interest in releasing information
Treat others with respect at all times (and, similarly, you should be treated with respect at all times).
Follow the guidance provided by the principal or other staff members.
Arrive on time.
Follow all security protocols.
Ask a staff member if you have any questions about how to proceed.
For overnight trips, please view the Teacher/Advisory & Chaperones Supervisory Responsibility
Volunteers also are encouraged to review the relevant policy.
Thanks again for your interest in investing in our students. We hope to see you in one of our schools soon!
