The Wauwatosa School District Buildings & Grounds Department is dedicated to maintaining safe, welcoming school environments that support student learning and success.

Each day, our students spend hours in District buildings—learning in classrooms, sharing meals in our cafeterias, and developing physical wellness, determination, and teamwork in our gyms. Research has shown that the condition and quality of these spaces can influence students’ creativity, engagement, and overall success. A positive physical learning environment plays an important role in creating spaces where students can thrive academically, socially, and physically. 

Specifically, the Buildings & Grounds Department is responsible for the ongoing maintenance and cleanliness of the District's fourteen district-owned buildings and the surrounding grounds. 

Maintenance of district facilities includes:

• General repair of structures and operational systems.

• Winter and summer site maintenance, material handling, and transport.

• Custodial support.

• Safety oversight and numerous other functions.
