I am oh so happy to see you!" ~Elmo
Welcome to the wonderful first grade community in room 104! The goals in my first grade classroom are to learn many new things, build excitement for becoming life-long readers, learn about new and different people, share our lives with each other, have fun and enjoy being a learner!
I have been teaching in the Wauwatosa School District since 2002. I have taught 3rd and 4th grade, and now 1st grade. Wauwatosa is near and dear to my heart because I was a elementary student at Lincoln Elementary School and a middle school student at Longfellow. Even my grandmother went to Wauwatosa High School back in the 1930's!
Besides loving my job as a teacher, I have many interests outside of school too. I love reading and learning about new technology. I love to travel to new places, and was lucky enough to travel to France to learn watercolor painting under the author/illustrator Catherine Stock in 2007 and to the Middle East to the country of Jordan on a Fulbright-Hayes grant for a whole month in 2010. I enjoy spending time with my husband, our daughter, Josephine, our dog, Bogie and our cat, Stinky.
I also have a fondness for the little red monster named Elmo, so don't be surprised to see more than one Elmo in my classroom!
