I am happy to say this is my 18th year as an educator in the Wauwatosa School District. I started my career in education in 1995. Prior to coming to Wauwatosa, I worked in Milwaukee Public Sschools for 5 years. 3 of these years I was a paraprofessional and 2 years I was a substitute teacher. I earned my Bachlors of Fine Art from the University of WI - Milwaukee in 1993. After which I spent 2 years working as a gem cutter and metalsmith prior to hearing the call and accepting the nudge to return to college at Alverno in 1995 where I eventually earned my Wisconsin art educators license in 2000. This was the same year I was lucky enough to start working with the young people of Wauwatosa. Over the course of these many years I have worked in 7 schools in our district and am thankful to all the amazing staff, administrators, and families I have met and learned from over this time.
Of course other life experiences have occurred over these many years, too. I started a family, earned my masters in visual studies, studied abroad, taught summer art classes and camps, owned my own studio/retail store, participated in art shows and sales, and had many other adventures and was taught many lessons by the school of life that have helped me grow as a teacher and human. I am happy to say I am a resident of Wauwatosa where I live with 2 cats, 1 dog, 2 children, and a husband who also happens to be an educator.
