Hello, and welcome to my webpage!

I love my job as principal of McKinley Elementary School! McKinley is a 4K-5th grade school with an amazing staff, an involved parent network, and motivated, creative, and caring students. It is a wonderful place to grow and learn. At McKinley, we were the first in the Wauwatosa School District to take on composting to help reduce landfill waste in our community. Now many schools have joined in. Since the pandemic, our efforts have waned, but we are dedicated to starting up again with the goal of significantly reducing our landfill contributions. It is great to see students concerned not only about themselves and their families, but also about their community and their world. We have also led the way in incorporating Anti-Bias Building Blocks curricular lessons into our Social Studies units, serving as a 2018-2019 pilot school, and expanding lessons thereafter. We continually examine our biases and practices, and take appropriate actions to break down barriers in an effort to increase equitable outcomes for all learners, especially those who have been historically marginalized by systemic policies and practices in school.

As principal, it is an honor to be given the opportunity to continue the longstanding tradition of academic excellence with a dedicated professional staff who nurture the social, emotional, and academic needs of every child. We aim to help all of our students discover their brilliance! I appreciate the insight and perspective of our community, so please do not hesitate to contact me if you have wonderful news to share or a concern to express. 

Personally, I have spent my professional career in the Wauwatosa School District, with the first 19 years at Wauwatosa East--16 years as a teacher and 3 years as associate principal. Both of my children are Tosa East graduates, and my husband and I live in Wauwatosa. We believe in the Wauwatosa School District and in public education.  I see it as a privilege to serve the students and families of our community each day.
