Degrees and Certifications:
It is my belief that a good educator should prepare students for the rigors of higher education by providing stimulating and engaging learning opportunities, offering guidance to help them reach their fullest potential, and creating a welcoming learning environment where students feel safe, showing respect for themselves and all people. I want my students to know the fundamentals of my English class, but I believe it is equally important to celebrate diversity, teach respect and tolerance, develop character, and help students become active, life-long learners ready to face the 21st century. I have been teaching 8th grade Communicative Arts at Longfellow Middle School for over 20 years. I am a graduate of the University of Wisconsin- Madison. During my years at Longfellow, I have coached forensics, led a human relations group, directed a school play, and volunteered as the Communicative Arts Department Chair. My hobbies include writing music, running my own jazz band, The Donna Woodall Group, reading great books, watching movies, traveling the globe, and spending quality time with my family.
