Mrs. Liza Weber
I'm Liza Weber, and I currently serve our district as the Elementary Math Coordinator. In the Wauwatosa School district, I have served as an instructional coach at Roosevelt, Wilson WSTEM, and Underwood Schools, as well as the Gifted and Advanced Learning coordinator. I have worked as an instructional coach for 8 years.
I received my bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. After completing my bachelor's degree, I continued to engage in learning in higher education while working as a classroom teacher. I graduated from Concordia University with a master's degree in Educational Leadership. I also received a Math Certificate from Carroll University. I completed one year of teaching at Carroll University, where I taught classes to a cohort of students working towards earning master's degrees. I have a deep passion for teaching and learning mathematics. I have been engaged in the study of teaching and leading mathematics since starting my career. I've had the opportunity to present at numerous conferences, including at the national NCTM conference in New Orleans in 2014. I have also had the opportunity to have work published through co-authoring an article that was published in Teaching Children Mathematics.
Through my continuous deep study of mathematics, I have learned that flexibility, reasoning, conceptual understanding and application are critical components of developing a deep understanding of mathematics. I aim to support our district in developing classrooms where all students are positioned as doers of mathematics and succeed at achieving the rigorous goals we have set for them and to ensure high quality curriculum is in the hands of our teachers and students. I am passionate about early numeracy development and the positive impact early numeracy learning has on a child's trajectory.
