Mrs. Lisa Wanta

Hello!  I'm Lisa Wanta.  I am originally from Illinois, where I attended the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, and obtained my Bachelor's Degree in English education and speech/drama.  During my matriculation there, I also studied abroad for a semester in Nottingham, England.  I taught for six years in Illinois, working in a variety of subjects, including freshmen English, creative writing, and Title I reading. I also served as speech team head coach, as well as for three years as drama director and literary magazine advisor.  I also attended Northern Illinois University part-time and obtained my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction, with an emphasis in reading. After getting married to a wonderful man from Green Bay, WI, we moved to the east coast, where I taught reading, wrote for a newspaper and several magazines, and started a family.  Since returning to the midwest and the  professional work force, I have focused on reading instruction. In June 2017, I completed the requirements for my Reading Specialist license.  This is my fourth year doing reading intervention, and my third year at Wauwatosa West, where I lead multiple reading groups, as well as co-teaching in both English 9 and English 10.
