Mrs. Emily Jones
Teaching has been a lifelong passion of mine. As a child, I watched my dad positively influence his myriad students and it fascinated me to no end. He brought me to many, many events at and for his school, which only piqued my interest. While in high school, I taught Spanish at an elementary school nearby on my lunch hour and knew I would love doing that as a career. After graduating high school, I attended UW-Oshkosh and earned a BSE with a major in Spanish and a minor in English.
My first teaching job was at Menasha High School, home of the Bluejays. I taught both English and Spanish during my nine-year tenure there. Additionally, I coached freshman girls' basketball and volleyball, was a Pep Club and school newspaper co-adviser, and was part of our school's Wellness Council. While I enjoyed my time in Menasha, I eventually moved to the Milwaukee area when I met my husband.
I next worked at Waukesha North High School for a year teaching English before moving to Butler Middle School (down the street from North) for three years teaching Spanish. Again, I truly enjoyed my experiences in Waukesha, but when a job closer to my home was available, I took it. While in Waukesha, I coached freshman boys' volleyball and was the Wellness Coordinator for my school.
I was hired to teach English at Tosa West in the 2013-14 school year and have been here since. While here, I have taught English 9, English 10 (regular and advanced), Creative Writing, World Literature, Intro to Rhetoric, The Hero in Literature, and The Contemporary Novel. The experiences I've had here at West have been my best yet. Outside of teaching these classes, I have been the Anime Club adviser for all five years I've been here.
Finally, I am proud to live and raise my three children in this community. It is one of excellence!
