Mr. John Hushek

I have been teaching all subjects at various grade levels for 16 years. Based on my experience and graduate degree work, I strongly believe the key to academic success lies in helping students become engaged in all aspects of their learning--learning to enjoy learning. Improving as a reader is one of the most crucial steps in that direction. It is essential to identify each student's abilities and needs to help them become the best reader and learner they can be. Education is an important part of my family as well as my professional life. My wife is an award-winning science teacher and my main inspiration for switching careers 15 years ago. In addition to classroom teaching, I have been involved in teaching at a hands-on science camp for 12 years. In summer 2013, my wife and I spent 3+ weeks teaching English and environmental science to Russian middle school students in eastern Siberia. I have lived in the Milwaukee area my whole life, but I love to travel with my wife and our 4 children--Natasha, Aaron, Ian, and Sam--(and now 3 grandchildren). In addition to travel, I enjoy cooking, reading, and following my favorite sports teams--Go Brewers! Go Pack! Go Bucks!
