Mrs. Andrea Powers

Welcome! I'm Mrs. Powers and I teach 5th grade at Underwood Elementary. I am thrilled to be a part of the Wauwatosa School District! In 2006, I graduated from UW-Madison with a B.S. in Elementary Education. I previously taught 4th grade, 5-year-old kindergarten, and various recreation classes through the Elm Grove Recreation Department. In 2011, I completed my Master of Education through Carroll University and hold a Reading Teacher #316 license.

I wanted to be a teacher since I was a child, and I think of myself as a life-long learner. I believe students are eager to learn. As a teacher its important for me to create a comfortable, safe environment for them to explore the world around them and grow as young people. I think of our class as one big "team" and work to build a sense of community through cooperative activities.

Outside of school, I have many hobbies. I really enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I have always been an avid reader. I also enjoy sports, and I was an assistant varsity girls soccer coach at Wauwatosa East High School for two seasons.
