Junior Kindergarten (4K)

  • Junior Kindergarten provides a foundation for all learning and centers on the social, emotional, physical and intellectual development of children.

In Junior Kindergarten, classrooms and curriculum are designed to meet the needs of our youngest learners.

Experiences are designed to meet varied needs and to provide our Junior Kindergarteners with opportunities to work and play together and to use their own curiosity.  Thus, the Junior Kindergarten experience is the beginning of preparing children to be confident, independent learners.

Additionally, we are thrilled to offer a wrap-around program for our Junior Kindergarten (4K) families.

Our JK Wrap-around program provides parents flexibility and convenience. Whether your child attends the morning or afternoon school session, you have the option of wrap-around programming and child care provided through our nationally recognized provider, Right At School.

Our junior kindergarten environment and instructional approach are based on the belief that young children learn best by doing. We use exploration centers and theme-based projects to promote creative and critical thinking skills. Children have opportunities to investigate what interests them, solve problems, discover relationships, and make comparisons.

Children participate in project investigations in literacy, math, science, and the creative arts. Circle time, music, and large motor play are all enriching parts of our daily routine that promote socialization, movement, community, fitness, and wellbeing.

Parents must first register for Junior Kindergarten through the Wauwatosa School District, then register for the wrap-around program through Right At School. Information for both is listed on the right side of this web page.

    Wrap-around Program Times:

    AM 8:20am - 12:30pm
    PM 10:55am - 3:20pm (2:20 on Wednesdays)
