We are starting to see a classroom wing take shape with structural steel raised and the elevator masonry walls completed. Site Superintendent Ryan Niegocki made a presentation to Underwood third-graders recently about the construction of the new school, which aligns with the social studies curriculum focus on their city community.  By each grade level, students have adopted a month in which they are providing the construction workers with treats and cards to thank them for building their new school, as a service-learning opportunity. "I think those gestures underscore the students' excitement as we watch our gymnasium start to become enclosed, and the wing with the classrooms start to take shape.  The construction has actually been much less of a disruption to the day-to-day functioning of our school than we anticipated.  It has been a very positive experience for all our students and staff," said Underwood Elementary Principal Jenny Keats.
