Ms. Kovar

Welcome to my website. I began teaching at Whitman in 2007, but I was not new to teaching. I began planning my teaching career while riding my big wheel around the block when I was six years old. In other words, I've always wanted to be teacher! Later in high school, I had the chance to present a lesson for the Lung Association to middle school students. It was then that I realized I intended to spend the rest of my life in a classroom. I earned my BA in Education from Cardinal Stritch University and my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from National Louis University. My "official" teaching career began in 1989 when I taught reading at the Cardinal Stritch Reading and Learning Center. The following year I taught first grade. In 1991, I had the opportunity to teach seventh grade, and that was when I realized I preferred teaching the "mysterious being" known as the "middle schooler". I've been teaching middle school ever since! I currently teach eighth grade science and reading. When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my daughters and husband.
