Wauwatosa West High School is a great place to learn. We are proud of our legacy as a school of excellence. In 2017, our school was named to the Washington Post’s list of America’s Most Challenging High Schools. We offer 22 Advanced Placement courses, found in all core course areas of the curriculum, including the nationally recognized AP Capstone Program. All graduates demonstrate financial literacy through an elective choice in Business and Personal Finance, Economics, or Independent Living. Project Lead The Way/Engineering courses are supplemented with technical education, computer applications, visual arts, and family and consumer education to produce well-rounded students prepared for their future.
West’s exceptional faculty includes both veterans in the classroom and bright, initial educators enthusiastic about their careers. Our staff is engaged in the research to execute best practices to better serve our students. Above all else, they know and care deeply for their students.
Students thrive when they are involved beyond the classroom, and we provide those opportunities with a wide range of co-curricular programming. From our nationally recognized public policy program, athletics program, the arts and through our student leadership groups, there is something for everyone. The Trojan Players produce two full-scale theatrical productions a year in our 850-seat theater. We were recently recognized nationally as a Top High School Theater Program by Stage Directions Magazine.
