Wauwatosa West High School continues to build on its reputation for excellence - in our curriculum, the quality of faculty, the breadth of our student activities and the improvement of our facilities.
In 2017, our school was named to the Washington Post’s list of America’s Most Challenging High Schools. We offer 22 Advanced Placement courses, found in all core course areas of the curriculum, including the nationally recognized AP Capstone Program. In addition, the Wauwatosa School District requires all graduates to demonstrate financial literacy. The elective courses of Business and Personal Finance, Economics or Independent Living fulfill this requirement.
Project Lead The Way/Engineering courses are supplemented with technical education, computer applications, visual arts, and family and consumer education to produce well-rounded students equipped for the 21st century.
West’s award-winning faculty includes both veterans with more than thirty years in the classroom and bright, initial educators enthusiastic about their careers. Our staff is at the forefront of best practice on research and it’s implications in the classroom, including Grading for Learning, Professional Learning Communities (PLC) and Project-Based Learning.
As a school community, we are working hard to address our diversity and increase our understanding of one another and how each individual learns and fits into the community.
We have a robust offering of co-curricular opportunities from academic enrichment, to athletics, and the arts. The Trojan Players produce two full-scale theatrical productions a year in our 850 seat theatre. We were recently recognized nationally as a Top High School Theatre Program by Stage Directions Magazine.
We are continually reviewing and updating our facilities. Within the past few years we have added a new football-lacrosse field, new soccer field, new baseball field, and a new softball field and dugouts, and well as completed numerous weight room renovations.
Come and see for yourself everything that Wauwatosa West has to offer!
