What In The World Can Wauwatosa Students Discover?

Jennifer Engel and Cody Henrick: $850
Grant will purchase games to be used in enrichment period. "These games will allow our students a hands-on opportunity to explore the world and become more familiar with the world and capitals around them. Our goal with these games is for students to learn where countries are and how these countries can interact with each other.”

Creative Problem-solving Using Simple Machines Students

Michele Schmidt: $1,118
This grant will use Newton's Laws of Motion , balance and unbalanced  forces to demonstrate  concepts and solve problems. Students will identify the simple machines that make up a compound machine. They will use simple and compound machines to solve differentiated problems.

Mobile Microscope Cart with Cordless Microscopes

Sarah Lichey and Carol Surges: $5,769
Having these microscopes will improve the quality of student's learning by giving them greater mobility in labs.  It will also allow a greater population of students access to microscopes.

Longfellow will also benefit from a grant written by district staff members Bill Anderson and Jerry Merz.

Portable Wind Tunnel, part of the Discovery Lab

William Anderson and Jerry Merz: $5,000
The wind tunnel will be equipped with a laptop and have embedded electronic sensors to collect real-time data. This information would be collected by students and used for analysis for their model designs.
