| Middle Schools |

Wauwatosa's two middle schools, Longfellow and Whitman, enroll approximately 1,400 students in grades six through eight. The middle schools include:
- A house program with groups of 50 to 120 students of the same grade level working with two to five teachers.
- Communicative arts, math, science and social studies required for all students. Physical education on alternating days.
- Foreign language study in French, German or Spanish begins in seventh grade.
- Required courses in art, business education, exploring technology and music for sixth graders. Seventh graders take a family studies/health course. Eighth graders take health.
- Wide variety of extracurricular activities.
