Then and Now ... The photo on the left from around 1890 is of District No. 10 school, later named Underwood School in honor of pioneer William O. Underwood. The school was first a log building on the southwest corner of Mayfair and Watertown Plank roads. In the mid-1870s, the school moved to the northwest corner of Potter and Mayfair roads and was used until 1917. The present Underwood Elementary School is in the same general location at 111th St. and Potter Road. (Trivia and photo from Wauwatosa Historical Society.)
