The Wauwatosa School District has a total student enrollment of approximately 7,000 students.  The district has a neighborhood school system with nine traditional elementary schools, one elementary charter STEM school and an elementary Montessori school. There are two middle schools, two traditional high schools and one two year trade charter high school. The school district also operates school programs at four institutions on the grounds of the Milwaukee County Regional Medical Center.
